Kaynoeing
Native New Yorker Russell Nunziata has written a great new book
call Kaynoeinghow to canoe in a kayak. The book is
fully illustrated with a simple and instructive text. Topics covered
include: choosing the right boat, packing your equipment, loading and
unloading your kayak, portaging, shuttling, transporting kayaks, accessories,
the getaway and where to go paddling. Especially interesting
is the Intermission chapter which contains some great photos
of the fantastic places to visit while paddling.
Along
with Secret Places of SI by Bruce Kerchner, this
book is a great way to learn more about kayaking and camping in our
region.

Reviewer: G. Sheehan (NYC, NY) - I am a novice kayaker and camper.
This book was very helpful to me as a beginner kayaker wanting to try
an overnight camping trip. The book was easy to read, and contained
useful tips on how to pack food and gear for short trips. I recently
took an overnight camping trip to the Pine Barrens, NJ with a friend.
We tried a two man kayak instead of a canoe because it was much lighter
to portage. We used the Kaynoeing book to help us pack for two day's
worth of food, a tent, folding chairs, extra clothes, and other gear.
Thanks to the tips in the book, we successfully kayaked and covered
an area of about 20miles. The trip was great and I plan to take more
kayaking trips of this kind. Thank you to Russ Nunziata for writing
a very good book.
